What is Equity Crowdfunding?

Equity crowdfunding is a security-based form of crowdfunding. A business owner issues shares of their company generally via an online platform to the public in exchange for investments. Unlike other forms of crowdfunding that offer rewards, equity crowdfunding allows investors to become partial owners of the business they invested in. In Malaysia, operator of Equity Crowdfunding platform is regulated under Recognised Market Operator Guidelines issues by The Securities Commission of Malaysia.
