Who can be an issuer?

AMB Connect welcomes all locally incorporated entities from various sectors and growth stage, particularly startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to host ECF campaigns on our platform, subject to the compliance of the following requirements as set forth in the Guidelines: -

  • Entities that can raise funds through ECF:
    • Malaysia incorporated companies in the form of sendirian berhard or berhad or limited liability partnerships.

  • Entities prohibited from raising funds through ECF:
    • Exempt private companies;
    • Commercially or financially complex structures (e.g., investment fund companies or financial institutions);
    • Public-listed companies and their subsidiaries;
    • Companies with no specific business plan or whose business plan is to merge with or acquire an unidentified entity (i.e., blind pools);
    • Companies, other than microfunds, that propose to use the funds raised to provide loans or make investments in other entities; and
    • Any other type of entity specified by the SC.
Additionally, as an Islamic ECF platform, AMB Connect only allows issuers whose businesses are not operating under the Shariah Non-Compliant List to host ECF campaigns on our platform. For more details, please refer to our Shariah Non-Compliant List.
